Well, we've officially begun! What an exciting time for everyone--lots of energy and worries. Our first few days and week will explore our habits as citizens and learners. On our first day we explored questions that connect us to each other and school in general. Today we explored what excites and worries us about school as well as student impressions on what will be easy and difficult about high school in general. Student responses to our "Four Questions Chalk Talk" varied but many students realized that much of the group shared the same thoughts on each topic. See the webs below for the transcripts of that activity.

Sorry for any let downs, but it seems my inspiration software webs aren't posting through the link I've set up. After almost two hours of dickering around, I have finally realized I need web2.0 help! PLEASE check again as I'll get student responses postable soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda McSweeny for showing me how to post our webs!
ReplyDeleteNice job on this EW. I love when teachers break new ground...sharing maybe...for a moment...some of the anxiety that freshman students feel minute by minute. LOVE the posted chalk talk.

On student worries: If any of this becomes a problem, ask for help (especially regarding bullying). It's why we're here (to help).
ReplyDeleteThanks to the students for sharing their thoughts and concerns-- I had the thought that we are all human and are worried about the same things when we enter a new situation. Good to see this here, to know what folks re thinking there.
ReplyDeleteThanks to EW for a chance to connect with students who've gone on from Gr 8.
